The Wesleyan University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) advocates for the interests and welfare of all faculty on campus. We promote administrative transparency, defend academic freedom, and encourage faculty representation and participation in the governance of the institution. We work collectively to transform our campus climate and create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive Wesleyan. Our current campaign is “One Faculty, Shared Governance!”

Founded in 1915, the AAUP is a nonprofit membership association with chapters at colleges and universities across the country. AAUP’s mission is to advance academic freedom and shared governance; to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education; to promote the economic security of faculty, academic professionals, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and all those engaged in teaching and research in higher education; to help the higher education community organize to make our goals a reality; and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good. AAUP is the only national organization dedicated to safeguarding the rights of higher education professionals.

Wesleyan AAUP is a member-led organization shaped by your concerns. Join our mailing list to stay connected, participate in chapter meetings, join working groups, access our shared resources, and receive regular updates on the chapter’s actions.
